The Association of Banks in Cambodia (ABC), together with the Cambodia Microfinance Association (CMA) have donated $10-thousand and tonnes of food for those worst affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The donation was received by the Samdech Techo Voluntary Youth Doctors’ Association (TYDA).

Member of the TYDA Board of Directors, Mr. Penh Thearom hosted the handover ceremony, which was also attended by representatives of the ABC and CMA. The food supplies include five tonnes of milled rice, 2 000 packages of canned fish, 2 200 packages of soy sauce and 2 200 packages of fish sauce.

ABC’s General Manager Heng Koy says the association was acting according to its guiding principles, wanting to offer relief to those who have been heavily impacted by Covid-19, most especially those currently confined to their homes. He also expressed his deep gratitude to the Royal Government and TYDA for taking “timely action” to address the impact caused by the pandemic.

He said that the ABC and CMA will continue to donate funds and resources in the fight against Covid-19 and to offer assistance in the prevention and eradication of the pandemic in the community, so that Cambodia’s economy can get back on track.

TYDA’s Mr. Penh Thearom thanked the ABC and CMA for their donation, saying that it will be dispatched to hospitals, their patients and other targetted areas throughout the country. This is the second donation of its kind made by ABC and CMA since the beginning of the year.
